Four on South London Waste shortlist
A shortlist of four bidders has been announced for £990m The South London Waste PFI contract.
The South London Waste Partnership, which is made up to the London Borough's of Croydon, Merton, Sutton and Kingston, was awarded £225m in PFI credits by Defra for the project.
The following four bidders has been chosen the following four bidders for the deal:
• Veolia
• Viridor
• Waste Recycling Group
• Resources from Waste (a consortium of Unitied Utilities, Laing O'Rourke and John Laing)
The contract is expected to be awarded for 25-30 years to deal with and process 200,000 tonnes of residual waste per year.
The bidders will now be asked to submit detailed proposals for the deal and hope to be reduced to two for final evaluation before a contract is awarded in May 2011.
